Loughmore-Castleiney Parish Defibrillator Committee

The Loughmore-Castleiney Parish Defibrillator Committee would like to thank most sincerely everyone who supported the Progressive 25 card game on April 11th. It was a huge success. To all who bought tickets, to all who played on the night a sincere thank you. To all the ladies who helped in the kitchen and who provided sandwiches and the huge variety of confectionery we are most grateful. Finally we appreciate those who sponsored raffle prizes. To one and all a big thank you. We are now in a position to move the programme on and buy Defibrillators. Training is on going and anyone who wishes to be trained can contact Liam Cleary on 087 7622267.

Castleiney National School Receive Green Flag

Congratulations to the pupils and teachers of Castleiney NS who were awarded there first Green Flag Award by An Taisce during the week. Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment.
Unlike a once-off project, it is a long-term programme that introduces participants (students, teachers, parents and the wider community) to the concept of an environmental management system. However, Green-Schools is far more than just an environmental management system.

The flag will be presented to them at a ceremony in Athlone on the 23rd May.
